Who Is Corinne Stevie?

Once again, the time has come for Runway Wonderland to promote the incredible linings of the underground world. Last month I was exposed to Miami based artist, Corinne Stevie who's music stands firm against a commercial crowd. My first  experience with Stevie was vibin' to a hook that touched on time travel, which just happened to be on my favorite topics to explore. Outside of her ability to capture me with music, Stevie impressed my concentration by her lyric-matching image. Seizing the opportunity, I managed to cook up an exclusive interview with the artist herself.

Who is Corinne Stevie?
Corinne Stevie is a person who is really in tuned with herself... creatively.. spiritually and all. I'm the good, the bad and everything in between.

Your music bleeds its own individual persona, what drives you to be such an artist?
The world around me, and of course the friends and family who have encouraged me from the beginning. I started creating art in the beginning because i enjoyed it and it made me happy, but then I noticed it made others happy as well. I feed off of good energy, competitive energy, lazy energy just a lil bit of it all. I've learned to embrace my whole self.

Who are your 3 major musical influences?
Right now i would have to say ,Santigold, weezy, and this Aussie producer named TIMESHARE. He's incredible, cause he really pushes me up to the next level with his production.

What about fashion? How important is it to you and your image?
Fashion is very important, but not really... but it all depends on my mood. Sometimes I wanna catch your attention and somedays I like to go unnoticeable.

Who are your style icons?
Grace Jones, Miss Jack Davey, and Art school boys

What are you rockin' this season?
A lot of vintage thrift store vintageclothing. As far as footwear I got a pair of yellow doc martins late last year and I got some really simple shoes to paint. But i'm definitely mixing up styles, genres and eras all the time.

Do you remember your first experience with music?
Yes I was in the fourth grade and my music teacher wanted our class to write a rap about education for a contest. So I wrote my lil rhyme and I didn't really think nothing of it. But then the next thing I know i won first place. I had to stand up in front the whole school and read my rhymes it was crazy because I was really nervous but I did it anyway and got my prize. For some reason I never forgot the last line of the rap it went something like "Get your education and your degree". Education has has always been an important thing in my family thats why I'm completing school before I really get into my career.

What do you want peple to recognize you for?
I want to be recognized for bringing the passion back into music and art. I also wanna be recognized for just pushin the limits and doin my own unique thing. I wanna be recognized as one of those people who really know how to express themselves in an interesting way.

Describe an ideal day for Corinne Stevie?
An ideal day for Corinne Stevie is a super busy one. Student by day and Free lance Illustrator, Muralist, and Musician by night.

What makes you happier; people knowing you for your talent or the territory that comes with it?
The sunlight makes me extremely happy, but I love it when people can appreciate what I do.I don't care for the territory stuff.

Fall On Me!

As I'd previously said, Jo and I usually get into our mood when we take completely random photos simply because it's the only way to capture a great moment. However this time around we a brief but intense try-on session for our promoting event that was being hosted by GQ. Of course, Jo looking incredibly stunning in everything and brought a conclusively different vibe to each look provided by Tommy Hilfiger... and as we know, diversity is always a great asset to possess. If you happen to be interested in any of the pieces that she is wearing... you know where to find her!

The Air I Breathe

I don't have to go into yet another speech on how much I esteem those who take up fashion illustration , so I wont (lol). Fellow designer and friend Bobby Creger has always been one who lives unafraid of possibilities and it clearly shows in his work (as if I didn't need anymore reasons to love him more). However, Creger isn't limited to just fashion design, he also greatly explores the grounds of wardrobe styling, photography and takes the time to post it all on his blog.

Remembering the very first time I met Bobby at American InterContinetal University London, I was incredibly intimidated to even speak to him because his style was so overwhelmingly inordinate and I adored it. Without knowing it, he still serves as one one of my style icons  today by portraying the image of the modern man that I totally dig.  With that being said, this definitely won't be the last time you see him here on Runway Wonderland

You Better Recognize!

As I go about my daily activities as a socialite, I sometimes have to question if I'm the only one who thinks that Cher is a living Style Icon? She was the queen of the stage in the 70's and 80's and was quite daring with her stage image. She clearly was a trendsetter for owning the title of being "The Madame of Bling" onstage back then she was being sooo 2009! When this chick came into a room you had to bow down! Her ensembles are so exclusive they are sitting in museums as you read. HOW AWESOME! Hail the Queen!

Sounds Mighty Mighty Good

You may have noticed that Runway Wonderland normally does not participate in any celeb gossip (we lead, not follow), but I was browsing around on The Life Files and saw this incredibly interesting photo of Lady Gaga. Since I'm already hopelessly in love with her image, its difficult for me to see photos of her and not appreciate her and her efforts. From reading the comments that followed this photograph, people seemed to think that she was just plain wrong for entering the streets dressed like this... but I completely disagree. As I've already stated on The Life Files, the Lady is doing her part to be a forcing presence in the music industry by turning heads (....all of 'em)! If she sang the same tunes that she currently sings and had a more commercial (or mainstream) image, she just wouldn't be recognized as the artist and icon that she is now. PERIOD! So what if she decides to leave her house in liquid bathing suits, conquering shades, and statement amazon heels? You noticed her didn't you? You took the time to speak her name, right? There are people who get paid to hate and people who get paid to be
great...the Lady just happens to be one of them.

That NEW NEW

I must say the barbie craze is over!!!! Lady Ga Ga is on some "Life Size Super Hero" Isshhh! Barbies are definitely out and Super Heroes are in! Since we on Runway Wonderland love people who save lives, it clear that we'll call The Lady to the rescue whenever there's an emergency. I also adore the fact that she is inspired by many designers and creates some of her own ensembles which makes her extra hottt!!! There's no doubt that The Lady is a presence to those who yearn the creative and imaginative image (which why we dig the hair-bow).

Ice Cream & Sprinkles

I recieved an email early this morning and the Subject read " World Domination".... at first I thought "Oh Lord.. not another damn conspiracy message!" To my surprise, it was this photo of pop star, Cassie's new cut. No matter how much I don't like her as an artist, I'm confortable enough to say that I dig this new look.

As of late, there seems to be an increasing in-your-face and on-the-edge image perculating amongts the music industry... it's almost like a gritty glamour vibe that I can really get into. Yes, she shaved one side of her head (possibly by accident)... yet she has the long gorgeous dark hair and the almight oversized shades that suggests that rich and empowered image that we see everyday in the tabloids. Needless to say, Cassie has REALLY raised the bar a couple notches and I'm cool with it.

Fresh beyond all means

I Drink AppleJuce

Seneca promised me that he'd send me a picture of him rockin' the Ann Demeulemeester brooch once it arrived in the mail... and that he did (and then some!) This is why we love him!

Fear Is Not An Option

I'm not sure how it all started, but Renaissance Girl, Danielle Scott-Haughton has definitely moved me to fear absolutely nothing. Therefore I channeled her in-your-face energy.

Haughton lives in London and is currently working on her latest project, Cut&Swallow Tees. Can't wait!

Shut The #@!* Up!

I'm sure a million and one people have already seen this photo... if only Rhianna was a brilliant as her tattoos, I'd probably love her a lot more. With that being said... (although I'm not much of a tat fan), I adore this tattoo that she has on the side of her index finger...  real smart.

[I'm A LifeStyler] I Dream of Genie

So...we, here at Runway Wonderland have been cooking up a new segment that exposes the very reason why we blog. And since we love and push living a lifestyle, that stands true to you and your "values"....we've got something called a "Being a LifeStyler", which you may have seen us mention a time or two. "What's a LifeStyler?", you ask? As we all know, you can't live a life without style, or you'd just a standing empty idiot. A LifeStyler lives in every sense of the word. He/she doesn't just stay true to fashion... but food, interior, politics (ugh), culture, art, and everything else in between. A LifeStyler makes their own way and opportunities. Where there's an event of any kind, there you will find a LifeStyler. With all that being said, we're more than elated to say that we've managed to find our very first candidate; 24 year old Georgina B. who lives her life as an Event planner in London,UK.

Who or/and what inspires you to be a LifeStyler?
Everybody who looks like everybody else.

Who is your style icon?
People who wear what the hell they want and make it look amazing!

Ideal Scenario, you're going on the perfect vacation... where to and what are you doing?
Melbourne, Australia and lots of tennis!

What/where are you eating?
in the presence of friends and wild laughter. If we're talking cuisine, then Italian or Turkish or a whole massive plate of garlic mushrooms. What are you rockin' this season?
Faux fur, leather trousers, big specs, 80s dresses. I'm always on the lookout for a new 80's dress.

You won't be caught dead in?
Never say never

More important? Shoes/Bag? Why?
You can build an entire outfit around an amazing pair of shoes. Bag? Not so much

Where are you in 5-10 yeas?
Doing something creative.

When you're not working, you are (doing what with your free time) ?
Driving too fast. Talking too loud. Looking for more vintage dresses to add to my collection. Snuggling up with my iPod.

Any random info you'd like people to know? Sunflowers are the best flowers in the world. Make your bed as soon as you get out of it.

There you have it! We couldn't have been more excited to have done this piece on our Genie. She's our style icon....and should be yours as well.

King Me!

Jimi Hendrix serves as a style icon and a guru of music to many who believe in his purpose. Flickr user, Iri5 was inspired by vintage cassettes and the universal aspects of musicianship, and as a result..... Ghost in the Machine Sheer brilliance! I dont think I've ever been MORE interested in a tape (lol.)

Hate Me Cuz I'm Rich!

Check out Nicole Richie on this months cover of BlackBook Magazine. She spits a couple inches of Lady Ga Ga's image...but she looks so hot doing it. (Lol) Any questions?
